Questions and troubleshooting

FAQ for server owners and staff.

Short answers for the setup issues most communities run into first.

Why are commands not showing in Discord?

Make sure the bot was invited with applications.commands, then wait for Discord to refresh slash commands. For development guild commands, confirm the bot is registering to the correct guild.

What can I find under /info?

Use /info help for the quick-start guide, /info invite-bot for the official bot invite, /info support for support resources, /info user for Discord account and membership details, and /info server for server statistics.

Who can use setup commands?

Setup commands usually require Staff Role, Bot Admin Role, Manage Server, Administrator, or a command-specific permission. Configure staff roles with /setup first.

How does bot and CAD sync work?

The Discord bot links a guild to a CAD community. Once linked, duty sessions, departments, calls, civilians, vehicles, reports, warrants, and logs use shared community data.

What should I do if 911 calls do not post?

Run /setup and confirm the 911 channel is configured. Then check that the bot can view the channel, send messages, and embed links.

How do RP actions work now?

RP actions are combined into /rp. Use the action autocomplete field, such as /rp action:sit, /rp action:wave, /rp action:fine, or /rp action:panic. Optional fields like user, item, amount, reason, location, and message are available when an action needs them.

How do roleplay tweets work?

Staff sets a Twitter channel with /setup or /twitter-channel. Members create a server-specific handle with /twitter create-account, update it with /twitter edit-account, then post with /tweet. Tweet messages include like and repost buttons.

How do fake active units work?

Configured bot admin Discord IDs can use /force fake-create to stage temporary active CAD units for screenshots or social media. Use /force fake-list to review staged units, /force fake-update to adjust callsign, status, display name, note, or timer, and /force fake-delete or /force fake-clear to remove them. Fake units are marked internally and do not affect normal member duty sessions.

How do grouped callsigns work?

Use Unit groups beside Active units to combine 2–12 on-duty members from one department under a patrol, crew/apparatus, task-force, or custom callsign. On-duty dispatch controls all groups while a department with Manage Calls is staffed. When dispatch is offline, members can create or edit only a group that includes their own unit. Groups stay active when dispatch signs off, can optionally expire after 2–12 hours, and dissolve automatically when fewer than two members remain on duty. Fire and EMS can use Crew / apparatus groups without a separate vehicle registry.

How do incident priorities work?

Every CAD incident is Low, Medium, or High priority. The dispatch workspace sorts High incidents first by default, shows a colored priority marker and live timeout, and lets dispatch reclassify an incident without opening the full editor. Discord /911 callers can optionally choose a priority, Medium is the default, and Code 99 panic calls always sync as High priority.

What operational records can dispatch use?

Dispatch can create, assign, update, and clear active calls; view patient and PCR history without creating or changing medical records; and view, create, edit, or clear BOLOs. These permissions are included automatically for every preset, renamed, or custom department using Dispatch Workspace.

How can dispatchers change unit statuses?

Every department using Dispatch Workspace automatically receives Manage Unit Statuses (status.manage), including preset, renamed, and custom dispatch departments. It can change any active real or test unit, update one member inside a group, or set every group member to the same status. Existing communications and dispatch departments are upgraded automatically. Unit Status (status.change) remains available separately for standard departments whose members only need to change themselves.

How do I enable duty nicknames?

Community owners and admins can open Community Settings, enable Discord Duty Nickname Sync under Modules, and save. It is off by default. The bot needs Manage Nicknames and must have a higher role than the members it updates. Nicknames use the active civilian name, department or sub-department, and a callsign capped at five characters.

How do vehicle and firearm approvals work?

In Community Settings > Modules, Staff Vehicle Approvals and Staff Firearm Approvals are off by default. With approvals off, website firearm registrations and linked Discord or website vehicle registrations are approved immediately and appear on civilian records. With approvals on, staff with the matching manage feature or community admins approve or deny pending submissions from the registry page.

Why does lookup say my server is not linked?

Create a Discord link code from the website community settings page, then run /community-link in the Discord server that should connect to that CAD community.

Can different departments have different tools?

Yes. Department feature access controls whether members can view calls, use lookup, manage reports, manage warrants, open medical records, or use other CAD tools.
